We only collect what we need to run Protagonist and help you stay accountable. Nothing extra.

Payment info (processed securely through Stripe, not stored by us)
Goal details, check-ins, and the story you’re building inside the app

Usage Information

We collect how you use the app, including:

Daily proof submissions
Uploads and check-ins
Interaction with the AI coaching
Device + usage data that helps us diagnose crashes and improve performance

No tracking you around the internet. No selling your stuff.

2. How We Use Your Information

Here’s what your data actually helps with:

Running and maintaining the Protagonist service
Processing financial commitments
Powering AI coaching + verifying progress
Sending reminders, notifications, and nudges
Improving the app and building new features
Detecting and preventing fraud or bad-faith behavior

Your data fuels your progress — not our bank account.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data lives on secure AWS infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.

We take security seriously. That said, no system on the internet is 100% hacker-proof — and anyone who promises that is lying to you.

But we follow industry standards and continually level up our defenses.

4. How We Share Information

Short version: we don’t sell your data. At all. Ever.

We may share information with:

Service providers that help Protagonist work (AWS, Stripe)
Law enforcement, but only if legally required
Other users, but only when you explicitly choose to share something

No surprise sharing. No “oops we leaked your life story.”

Just clean, intentional data flow.

5. Your Rights

Because you’re the protagonist, not the product.

You can:

Access the data we have on you
Request corrections
Opt out of marketing emails
Export your data if you want to take your story elsewhere

We’ll honor your rights without attitude.

6. AI & Machine Learning

Our AI helps coach you, verify progress, and keep context on your journey.

Your interactions may be stored to:

Improve your coaching experience
Improve verification accuracy
Improve the app over time

We don’t train AI models with your data in a way that identifies you personally.

We’re building assistants, not surveillance.

7. Children’s Privacy

You must be 18 or older to use Protagonist.

We don’t knowingly collect data from children, and we really don’t want to.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we’ll let you know via email or in the app.

We won’t silently sneak in new rules.

You’ll know what changed and why.
